The River Challenge

The Registration for the Competitors of the Kenaboi River Challenge was at 8.30 pm on the 1st of November 2008 at Kampung Puom. There was a Traditional show going on during the registration and those who had came earlier took the opportunity to group together watching the traditional entertainment 'Tumbuk Kalang' while the registration was open until 12.00 midnight.

2 November 2008 - The River Challenge

On the 2nd November 2008, Kampung Puom in Kenaboi once again became the place for white water race "The River Challenge 2008" organised by the State Government of Negeri Sembilan. It was a 32 km race kayaking from Kampung Puom in Kenaboi to Triang Hilir in Simpang Durian. 137 participants from all over Malaysia took part in the white water race compared to last year only 104 took part in this same event.

In the long run the numbers of participants will definitely increase with the press playing an important role in promoting Eco-Tourism on the Kenaboi River Challenge as how it came out in many press reports after the event. The first event of the Kenaboi River Challenge was held in 1993 and this year in November 2008 is the 15th Anniversary of the Kenaboi River Challenge and it's still on popular demands by all clubs and whitewater sport enthusiast all over Malaysia and until now it had became more popular than before and ever after.

The main reason for the JPS Negeri Sembilan organising this river challenge was to make the people understand on how important it was to preserve the cleanliness of the rivers, thus it can also be the natural source of recreational activities to all such as kayaking, fishing, boating, canoeing, swimming, rafting, `mengocar' that is catching fish with bare hands and many more interesting activities. It seemed that the Kenaboi River Challenge 2008 was a great success. It has brought a lot of changes and attraction and also broken the record to make the Rapids Challenge an International event of the year whereby the numbers of participant took part in the rapids and river challenge showed a good sign for the future of the Kenaboi River Challenge.

The Director of the Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran Negeri Sembilan - Ir Hj Baharuddin bin Ahmad Nasir in his speech wished many thanks to all and everybody involved and mentioned on the good co-operation between all government officials committee and the non government officials committee in making this event a great success and he also wished many thanks to all kayak club members and Kayak sport lovers who sacrificed the two days to be in Kenaboi and had made this event so lovely and will forever becomes a good remembrance to all participants and to all involved in this event.
